New Lake Record!

A very busy summer with many magnificent catches ended with a New Lake Record of bang-on 45.lbs being claimed by Chris Clare from Barnsley – in our final week of the season. Big congrats to Chris and although we were not there to absolutely authenticate the weight of the mirror he landed that evening, September is a luscious month after much summer feeding so it was no surprise to see Jason Aldred’s record of 43.4lbs finally go.

Wayne’s Remarkable Repeat!

Wow! Special mention goes to Wayne Penfold from Kent who returned this August with his lovely family and incredibly repeated the success of his previous visit back in 2014 by once again landing one of our elusive grass carp – weighing in now at 29lbs – from exactly the same spot he landed his other ‘grassie’ 9 years ago!

Woods Family Get Together!

Great to welcome the delightful Woods family from the Wrexham area back here again in August after several years, booking all 3 cottages with 3 carp fishing on the Moulin Lake. Many cracking carp were caught by both returning and new guests this year including several new PB’s (see Fishing Gallery Photos for 2023) while one group smashed the 1,000lbs plus barrier in a week with another landing 950lbs!

Big Welcome Back!

More than anything else it was just so great to finally, after what we’ve all been through, have everyone back here on the Moulin Lake for a full season in 2022! This happy trio led by Steve Chilton from Bolton had fun banking over 1,000 lbs of top carp from their island pitch during a warm week in July.

Llew PB at 80 Years Young!

Well there was just no stopping the remarkable Llew Rees who returned in June to join his daughter Mel and her carp fishing partner Karl from Northampton, but at 80-years-young Llew topped it all off landing this 39.1lbs PB and then driving himself back to his home in Spain!

Young Stan’s double PB!

Wow! Special mention this season to 10-year-old Stanley Moughton from Devon who, watched by Dad Ross, set his PB not once but TWICE during a fantastic fortnight here in August. Level one was hit with a terrific 31.4lbs mirror and Stanley followed it up with this cracking 33.10lbs common.

Really big thanks to all who were finally able to make it here in 2021, but unfortunately for too many, it was much the same disappointing news story as the year before, with no carp fishing possible until August. Our main quad-mower also broke for a month in late May which is probably why this beautiful bee-orchid and others popped up on paths near the Lake in June!

Wolves fans net 22!

Congrats to Carl Quinn and Wayne Pennington, Wolves fans from the West Midlands who made it here with their families by the end of August 2021, despite all the problems, and were rewarded by landing 22 carp between them during the week.

Marie’s New WLR of 36.2lbs!

Congratulations all round to Marie Burns who broke our Women’s Lake Record on Sunday 30 August 2020 with her very first carp of a great week – a 36.2lbs mirror! Marie beat holder Karen Turner’s 35.4lbs set in May 2019. It was the fifth time the WLR has been broken here in the last 10 years.
